Former Baltimore County Executive Dennis F. Rasmussen Endorses Al Redmer, Jr.
TOWSON, MD - Al Redmer, Jr., Republican nominee for Baltimore County Executive, today announced his endorsement by former County Executive Dennis F. Rasmussen. A prominent Democrat, Rasmussen served as Baltimore County Executive from 1986 to 1990, and has also served in the Maryland House of Delegates and State Senate, where he was Chair of the Senate Finance Committee.
“Baltimore County Executive is not an entry-level position, and we need someone with a proven track record of executive experience to address the many financial challenges that will confront the County,” Rasmussen said. “I have known Al for many years and genuinely believe he will serve us well by providing exceptional leadership, competent skills, professional knowledge, and strong personal moral character. Al is a person we can trust to do the right thing for all Baltimore County communities.”
“I am exceptionally thankful for the endorsement of former County Executive Rasmussen and the confidence he has shown in me to lead Baltimore County during this critical turning point in our history,” Redmer said. “Having been County Executive himself, Dennis understands the kind of skills and experience necessary to run a large organization like Baltimore County government.”
Rasmussen will hold a private fundraising reception in support of Al Redmer this evening in Timonium. This is the third high-profile endorsement Redmer has picked up in the past week. Last week, Redmer announced endorsements from longtime Maryland political fixture Ellen Sauerbrey, as well as the non-partisan economic organization Maryland Business for Responsive Government.
